The Power of One

nline learning plays a key role in continuing education for accounting and financial professionals. In the past, Thomson Reuters has excelled in providing a range of online learning products and tools through such respected brands as PASS Online, MicroMash, PPC and Reqwired. With the launch of Checkpoint Learning, Thomson Reuters has streamlined and improved online education, creating a new standard in total learning management.

“This brings everything into one platform and puts all the tools you need in one place,” explains Christopher Horne, Director of Sales and Business Development for Thomson Reuters’ online learning division. “This is a whole new way of learning.”

Checkpoint Learning has completely reinvented its MicroMash and PASS Online learning programs, creating online courses that are much more user-friendly and interactive. The platform also provides access to a robust library of print-based self-study courses, the most comprehensive continuing education (CPE) rules tracking engine, and search-and-click access to register for hundreds of trusted live seminar programs – all packaged in a simplified workflow solution.

“Some companies’ online learning courses tend to be more text-heavy than they need to be. Most programs weren’t originally written to be used online, they were basically presentations that were converted to an online format,” Horne notes. To make our courses ideally suited for the online experience, Thomson Reuters has revamped hundreds of courses, redesigning them to incorporate audio and video components and case studies to supplement the information. Plus, through Checkpoint Learning, Thomson Reuters’ industry-leading PPC Guides can be downloaded as PDFs and graded online, allowing users to complete CPE exams online for immediate results.

Horne says that, given Thomson Reuters’ technology background and resources, it made sense for the company to reinvent the online learning experience.
